What’s Inside a Gold’s Gym?
June 28, 2018
At Gold’s Gym, we’ve worked hard to earn our place as the Best Health, Beauty and Fitness Franchise in the world. By providing our members with innovative, industry-leading services and amenities year after year, we’ve maintained our position as the authority in fitness. We spoke with Sal Pellegrino, Senior Strategic Account Manager at Precor Incorporated, to get a detailed glimpse of how we keep our gyms top-of-the-line.
A Powerful Partnership
We’ve created and maintained a network of vendor partners like Precor, global providers of premier fitness equipment since 1980. Sal says Precor began as a consumer company but grew to national renown after purchasing the development rights to the first elliptical machine, effectively creating the market segment for workout equipment.
Now recognized as a leading global developer of fitness equipment, Precor serves our franchisees the best of the best from their line of top-tier exercise and training machines. Our relationship with the company and streamlined global supply chain help keep purchasing costs lower for our franchisees.
And, Sal says, that’s not all: operating at our highest sponsorship level, Precor’s presence at our Annual Convention and other regional conferences allows them to act as leaders in franchisee education, helping Gold’s Gym owners navigate the competitive fitness industry and keep up with industry trends.
Anything but Standard
Precor supplies the majority of the training equipment found in Gold’s Gyms, serving as one of our preferred vendors. Sal lists some of the staple pieces that go into many of our clubs:
- 18-25 treadmills
- 10-12 ellipticals
- 4 upright bikes
- 4 recumbent bikes
- 4 Stepmills or Stairmasters®
- Arc Trainers
- Adaptive Motion Trainers®
- Multi-purpose, group training stations
- Olympic benches and racks
- 3 double-tier dumbbell racks
- 4-8 plate-loading chest, back, arm, leg and shoulder machines
- Pull-up rigs
- Group training
- Alternate individual training
More than Just Gear
In addition to providing our gyms with their most popular products – treadmills, ellipticals and assault bikes – they help us find solutions as we develop and add new training methods to our regular menu of member-facing offerings.
Sal says that listening to our needs as a company has helped him better serve us and our franchisees. He notes that because we have technicians that help service the equipment in our gyms, Precor is able to offer a parts-only warranty on the equipment while training our techs in proper maintenance and repair. This reduces costs and fees associated with the equipment.
Precor can also sometimes offer training to multi-unit franchisees, keeping them in-the-know about service provider certifications and the parts discount negotiated through the Gold’s Gym system. It’s about working harmoniously and taking advantage of the existing programs and processes.
Sal adds that Gold’s Gym’s architecture and interior design speaks perfectly to the current marketplace, with a multi-generational appeal that can’t be found in other fitness centers. From dynamic lighting that pulses with the music during intense cycling sessions to a layout that includes space for every kind of training, we’re dedicated to providing members and franchisees alike with the best experience at every turn.
