Local gym receives service award — Gold’s Gym announces that its Dutchess County group is the recipient of the 2014 IHRSA Outstanding Community Service Award. The award recognizes an International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association member that has shown an above-and-beyond commitment to making a difference.
Consisting of 11,000 members between two clubs in Fishkill and Poughkeepsie, Gold’s Gym Dutchess County is committed to supporting charitable initiatives and is a regular supporter of national organizations and charities such as the American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association.
The gym lends a hand by supporting local youth soccer teams, sponsoring a biannual road cleaning, and fundraising for programs such as Miles of Hope, a local breast cancer support group, and The Renegades’ Pitch for Kids, a local foundation to improve the quality of life of young people and their families throughout the region.
“Our goal is to make an impact either by raising money, sponsoring an event or providing a service,” said regional owner and manager Kim Kenyon.
